Former lead of the natural resource practice at ECOnorthwest, Dr. Mark Buckley designs economic analyses of policy options for water and land resources. He focuses on context-specific scarcities to understand the real value of goods and services, including ecosystem services and outdoor recreation. Mark works as part of interdisciplinary teams, for local, state and federal agencies. His recent work at ECOnorthwest included calculating the economic contributions of parks and national forest recreation in Central Oregon, surveys of residents and visitors to support sustainable tourism planning across Oregon and Washington communities, and development of a funding strategy for the San Diego River Park across jurisdictions throughout San Diego County. He has published research in peer-reviewed journals, edited books, and also served as an adjunct professor for environmental economics at Portland State University.
