Creating triple-bottom-line solutions that maximize impact

David has enjoyed a varied career in tourism development. He has done teaching and educational outreach work, created and built his own tourism businesses, and provided consulting services nationally and internationally. His consulting includes helping rural communities in Costa Rica, Honduras, Guyana and the U.S. develop and implement strategies for sustainable tourism development, as well assisting multinational corporations in “greening” their operations. David is the founder and director of Certification for Sustainable Transportation (CST). He is a lecturer in the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont, where he teaches courses on ecotourism, environmental problem-solving, foundations of sustainable development, managing for sustainability, and race, culture and natural resources. He also serves as the director of the school’s Semester Abroad program, which takes students to Costa Rica and Panama each year.
