Empowering community-led tourism that positively impacts visitors, host communities and the environment
Brian T. Mullis is a destination management, development, and marketing specialist passionate about community-led conservation and regenerative tourism. From April 2018 to 2020, he was the Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), during which time the country became globally recognized as a leading sustainable destination, and tourism became its second-largest export sector. Prior to leading the GTA, he founded and led Sustainable Travel International for 14 years, during which time it was the largest and most influential NGO working in sustainable tourism. Brian is currently working with the World Bank Group and The Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Suriname governments to support sustainable destination development. Leading initiatives and delivering innovative solutions within governmental agencies and multinationals and for MSMEs and community leaders in 70+ countries has given Brian a unique ability to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration, bridge communication divides, and generate tangible results at scale. This capability stems from 25+ years of experience in private, public, and civil sector CEO positions and a long track record of generating positive socio-economic and conservation outcomes through tourism.
