Empowering community-led tourism that positively impacts visitors, host communities and the environment
Brian is a destination management, development and marketing specialist who is passionate about community-led conservation and regenerative tourism. As director of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) from 2018 to 2020, he helped the country gain global recognition as a sustainable destination. Prior to that, he founded and led Sustainable Travel International for 14 years. Brian currently works with the World Bank and the Rwanda Development Board as a tourism and conservation technical advisor, and with the Canadian nonprofit Planeterra to scale up community tourism globally. Brian has also held leadership positions on the World Economic Forum Future of Travel and Tourism Council, the UN 10YFP Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Committee, the U.S. Department of Commerce Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, and the Transformational Travel Council. Having led initiatives and delivered innovative solutions in 70+ countries, Brian has a unique ability to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration, bridge communication divides and generate tangible results at scale.
