
For more than 40 years, Bonnie planned and managed outdoor recreation, destination development, and tourism attractions and programs on federal public lands with the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management. As a Regional Program Coordinator in the Pacific Northwest from 2000-2020, Bonnie was a key agency player in numerous statewide committees and regional projects to strengthen gateway communities including State Scenic Byways, Bikeways, and Birding Trails, the Central Cascades Geotourism Project, Travel Oregon’s Rural Tourism Studios and Travel Philanthropy Programs, the Oregon Timber Trail, and the Oregon Outdoor Recreation Initiative. Bonnie also completed 28 international technical assistance assignments in 11 countries in Latin America, Africa, and Asia with the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Forest Service International Programs. Now retired, Bonnie continues to engage in projects of interest, locally and abroad, fostering sustainable tourism in protected areas.
